SolRun Classroom Kit

  • Allow the whole class to explore their potential to build solar-electric machines! Pulleys, gears, wheels, axles, electric motors and 1 volt, 400 milliamp solar panels, plus other materials and tools. Classroom size (x15) kit of SolarDrive II  components , with further tools, materials, and potential possibilities.

  • With the simple technique of using screw eyes as shaft holders and vinyl tubing as spacers children are able to build onto many recycled materials, such as cardboard, detergent bottles, blister packs, milk cartons, etc. Dowel shafts can be mounted at any angle onto almost anything. It's the "Mr. Potato-Head" ® of solar mechanisms!

  • SolarDrives:  Gears and pulley/wheels fit snugly onto the dowel. As well, a motor shaft bushing fits into the hub of any size of pulley or gear, so that it can be spun directly by the motor. O-ring tires on pulley/wheels give direct-drive traction.
